Choquequirao trek 05 Days

It trekking package offers to the hikers a visit of the only archeological site designed and comparable in architecture and style to Machupicchu ancient Incas city. The complex of Choquequirao is compose by agricultural terraces, shelters, palaces, temples, ceremonial precinct and squares and its located at 3,050 meters above sea level (10,010 ft) ) and lie within Cusco region. The trekking tour provides camping equipment, horses and mules, to transport equipment and a cook to prepare food.

It’s a two day hike to Choquequirao, one full day to explore the archeological site plus surroundings and two more days to return to Cusco city. it is noiseless and peaceful walking route and not so busy technically its quite difficult and will be required a good level of fitness.

DAY 01: CUSCO – CACHORA – CHIQUISCA

Hotel Pick up to drive to Cachora village located at 2,850 meters above sea level (9,350 ft), where will have breakfast with an amazing view of Salkantay snowcapped. After to organize our stuff and equipment to be transported by horses and mules we will be ready to begin the trekking descending the mirador of Capulliyoc getting the first sight of the archeological site of Choquequirao enough time to enjoy the view of all around the valley. The walking down continues till the camping of Chiquisca located at 1,900 meters above sea level (6,233 ft).

DAY 02: CHIQUISCA – MARAMPATA – CHOQUEQUIRAO

After breakfast we walk down to Playa Rosalina to get the Apurimac river then we continue the ascend through a single path enjoying spectacular views of Apurimac canyon till to get Marampata Andean community where some farmer settled near Choquequirao. Will have lunch at outdoor. Then will get the camp site next to the archeological site.

DAY 03: CHOQUEQUIRAO

Day to explore and walk around the Inca city  visiting the most representative places such as Hauqaypata (main square) with the principal Sun Temple, Urin (upper square) with its open temple, Ushno (ceremonial platform), houses of priests, qolqas (storages), irrigation channels and agricultural terraces. Camping will be settled next  to the archeological site.

DAY 04: CHOQUEQUIRAO– MARAMPATA – CHIQUISCA

After to explore the archeological site of Choquequirao we return on the same direction passing back to Marampata and Playa Rosalina where lunch will be prepared  on afternoon climb up to  Chiquisca camp site to spend the night.

DAY 05: CHIQUISCA – CACHORA – CUSCO

Before sunrise we start to walk up to the mirador of Capuliyoc then we continue to Cachora village to have lunch. After to explore the village we will be transported by our car to Cusco city and your hotel.
