Choquequirao to Machupicchu 09 Days

This trekking tour is specially designed for hikers which allow you to enjoy the best walking route in Peru as well as the visit of two big and impressive Inca cities such as Choquequirao and Machu Picchu. The walking will take you through the most impressive sceneries of the high land and jungle.

This hiking take you through the less crowded route and it provide the visitor beautiful landscapes, natural sceneries, rivers, Andean villages, hot spring, archeological sites, quiet and peaceful camping night.


Hotel Pick up to drive to Cachora village (2,850 m.a.s.l (9,350 ft), where will have lunch. after to organize our stuff and equipment will be ready to begin the trekking descending the mirador of Capulliyoc getting the first sight of the archeological site of Choquequirao enough time to enjoy the view of all around the valley. The walking down continues till  the camping site of chiquisca located at 1,900 m.a.s.l (6,233 ft)

After breakfast we walk down to Playa Rosalina to get the Apurimac river then we continue the ascend through a single path enjoying spectacular views of Apurimac canyon till to get Marampata Andean community where some farmer settled near Choquequirao. Will have lunch at outdoor. Then will get the camp site next to the archeological site.

Day to explore and walk around the Inca city  visiting the most representative places such as Hauqaypata (main square) with the principal Sun Temple, Urin (upper square) with its open temple, Ushno (ceremonial platform), houses of priests, qolqas (storages), irrigation channels and agricultural terraces. Camping will be settled next  to the archeological site.

Our walking continues climbing to Choquequirao Pass which is at 3,300 meters altitude (10,890 feet). There we have an impressive landscape of high valleys with exuberant vegetation after a descent to rio blanco where we can enjoy a relaxed bath into the crystalline river while lunch is prepared. Then we leave the forest area and the rio blanco territory to go up to the small hamlet of Maizal where we spend the night in a campsite provided by local families.

Still walking up towards the mine of victoria where silver and cooper was extracted by our ancestors at colonial age at our passing over the mines we can appreciate original paved Incas trail. Lunch will be served once on top of the pass 4150 m.a.s.l (13,695 ft) with a wonderful view of all around the snowcapped mountains. Afterward will go down to Yanama hamlet 3800 m.a.s.l (12540 ft) where we spend the night.

Yanama Valley is surrounded by productive and cultivated fields plus cattle industry. The walking over this valley lead us to the highest pass of the trekking 4670 m.a.s.l (15400 ft) which is surrounded by amazing snowcapped mountains where the condors fly frequently. Afterward walk down to Totora community to set up camp. (11,979 ft).

After breakfast, we are still descending into the tropical area with a warm temperature, variety of flowers and birds will be appreciated along the walking path. Once in la Playa village you have the chance to interact with local people and camping.

Our trekking takes over great original Incas path which lead us to  Llaqtapata archeological site (8,694 feet) where we can enjoy the first view of Machupicchu archeological site then we descend Hidroelectrica where we have lunch. Afterward we continue our walking over the train truck to get finally Machupicchu town where we spend the night in a hotel. Dinner in a restaurant.

After an early breakfast we will take a bus to Machu Picchu archeological site which take twenty five minutes, the reason we leave early is to enjoy the sunrise on top of the old city of Mahupicchu a plenty of time will be provided to explore the city. On afternoon we take back the bus to Machupicchu town to get the train with direction to Cusco city.
